FIELD BASED WORKERS

Field Based workers are typically either sales personnel, or involved in the delivery of services or product to clients. In either case, there is no question that they need to work remotely. However, delivering information to them, and providing them with full access to company systems, has long been problematic.

Field Based workers are generally roving workers, with an attendant requirement to deliver systems to mobile equipment. In those cases where the remote worker will carry a laptop and will always be able to access an analogue phone line, the solution used by a fixed home worker is appropriate. This is the most complete solution in that it can potentially deliver all of the company's systems at full speed.

If there is a requirement to carry lighter equipment than a laptop, or to have fully mobile access, there are a range of other options available. While all of these are necessarily a compromise, they are becoming increasingly capable and can be invaluable to a roving worker. The choice of solution is very much dependent on the particular function of the person using it.
